Creative Movement develops critical thinking skills!
It produces cooperation and teamwork!
Movement is an outlet for self-expression
which fosters self-esteem!
Dance teaches cultural literacy!
Studies have shown that a child who is exposed to a foundational education in the arts will excel in mathematics & science and critical thinking skills, as they grow older. Creative movement takes the important locomotor skills children use in physical education and fine-tunes them. (Like dance classes that football and basketball players take) More importantly, creative movement and dance classes expand a child’s ability to focus and access their own creativity.
The class is based on the dance technique called “Dancing from the Inside-Out”. As a discipline, ballet and all dance forms create a wonderful atmosphere for teaching students about confidence and determination. It is rare that you find a program that also encourages self-expression, which fosters self-esteem. Students will be competent with communicating the thoughts and feelings from inside themselves. They will also learn beginning or intermediate dance steps. Dancing from the Inside-Out will show students how to relate music and rhythm to movement, express emotion with appropriate movement, and articulate the ideas in their imagination.
