Chelsie Griffith-Chelsie is currently attending 24/7 Ministry Leadership Academy. After completing her first year in Colorado Springs, she returned as Cadre to do her second year in Birmingham, AL. Based out of Church of the Highlands, the program is close to the heart of Senior Pastor, Chris Hodges, as he seeks to develop leaders for the growing church in America. Chelsie will be in a hands on leadership position as she leads a team, serves at the church and sits under the teaching of the pastors. As the academy focuses four pillars, spiritual, physical, social, mental, the goal is to grow as Christ did in wisdom and stature and favor with God and man. www.247birmingham.com
Sarah Hall-"I'm currently working as a volunteer in the Peace Corps in Moldova in a small village. The goals of Peace Corps are to promote peace by the exchange of life experiences and cultures with my community (by working here) and with America (through cards, letters, WorldWise Schools, etc...) and to enable communities around the world by bringing each person's unique experience to a community to work with the community and thereby hopefully empowering and sustaining the community with long term improvements and results.
I'm working in Community Development with the Mayor's office here in my village writing and facilitating different projects and trainings, and I will be doing many secondary activities such as working with the youth in my village teaching English lessons, and facilitating a youth leadership club which promotes community service and volunteerism. In my community I will also be teaching dance classes: 2 creative movement classes at the preschool and 2 hip hop/modern classes at the high school. If there is enough interest I'm thinking about starting an adult dance/exercise class as well.
I'll also be working in Moldova as a whole doing awareness campaigns, Model UN, summer camps, women and child life skills and empowerment, and volunteering in orphanages and transition homes. I also hope to continue to partner with the deaf outreach team to promote deaf rights in Ukraine during this time. While I'm here in Moldova, I'm interested in exploring the themes of advocating human rights, people with disabilities' rights, anti-trafficking, at-risk
youth, non-formal education including arts education and therapy, and maternal health.
My current plan after Peace Corps is one of three options: to go to grad school to get my master's degree in Refugees and Humanitarian Emergancies or Regional Comparative Studies with a concentration in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, to go straight to work if I can find a good job with an international organization in Eastern Europe, or to take the FSO exam and work for the State Department. So, I'm currently not sure exactly what my future will look like after Peace Corps, but I'm excited to find out, and I'm super excited to see what God has planned for my life and my future."
